Greetings from Rolex!

Kentucky Horse Park: New Stadium

Sarah Andrew reporting in from the Bluegrass for a quick hello :^) Lexington, Kentucky is beautiful! Imagine my delight to finally arrive at Rolex for the first time after so many years of watching and reading about it. I feel like a kid in a candy store at the Kentucky Horse Park. I saw the immortal Cigar (a favorite racehorse from my youth), as well as the great CH Gypsy Supreme, pictured here:

Day 1 of Rolex was fantastic. Check out the Rolex website for updates and standings. The two standout dressage tests for me were Jolie Sexton riding Killian O’Connor and Tim Lips riding Concrex Oncarlos. Both tests were remarkably harmonious and the rides were exemplary.

On to Day Two!

Cigar is a handsome fellow! Alysheba was my favorite childhood racehorse. Got to see him live at Santa Anita when I was 13 or so race against Ferdinand. Was looking forward to seeing him at the Horse Park until I heard he passed. 😦

Ha, Knight Sky, I guess he was actually a fave from my yout’ since I am a Jersey Girl. Interestingly, an old barn buddy owns Personal Merit, who ran second to Cigar in the Mass ap.

The grey is Ringwood Cockatoo, who WON the dressage with an AMAZING test today! Tim Lips was a big favorite with the crowd- one bystander could not stop talking about how cute he is.

I was so bummed when I heard about Alysheba as well. They took such amazing care of him, too. They even had a heated stall so he could acclimate to the weather.

    I vaguely remember him.
He was a New England based horse if I’m not mistaken.

That Ringwood Cocatoo’s whiskers against the dark background….
    is just “sick” detail !

You’re just about to make me cross over from Canon to Nikon.
    Chuck won’t like that. methinks.
