Boredom, Boredom…

Wizard

Due to weather and being busier than usual for this time of year, I have not ridden since Christmas. I’ve gotten a lot of photo work done, but my goodness am I ready to ride!

Wizard’s soles are feeling better but he is still very careful on hard ground. We are in the middle of a cold snap but I am visiting him regularly. I make sure he has warm drinking water, we do a little groundwork, and I let him play in the indoor arena. Slightly milder weather is expected later in the week so I’m hoping to at least take him for a hike in the woods this week.

Cold water would cause problems? Just wondering. 😉

In cold weather, horses generally prefer to drink tepid to warm water. They will drink cold water but they usually drink more if it is warmed a little. The more water they drink, the less risk of impaction/colic/dehydration for them.

O.K. thanks for the explanation. Make me wonder about the wild mustangs and the hardships they must go through every winter.

The Wizard is a lucky guy ! 😀

They don’t colic or founder like their stabled cousins, but they only live to age 12 or so.

PS- I can admit it… Wizard is SPOILED!

I’ve witnessed mustangs in the wild through a PBS documentary.
They have a most difficult life.

But for Wizard – It’s Good to be King. 😀

oh man, I bet there are times when you just want your butt in the saddle already! I can totally feel that hahaha. Riding is so great, I remember riding when I was a child… so awesome. I love saddles, that’s part of it.
