Five Paragallo Fillies up for Adoption
May 24, 2010
For those not familiar with the Ernie Paragallo case, please click here, and here, and here, and here to learn more. Note: as with all rescues, please research thoroughly before donating your money or adopting an animal.
A few Paragallo fillies came into the care of a NJ equine rescue group. Visit this link for more information about adopting them: www.njhorseangelsrescue.org
I went out to the quarantine facility and photographed them last week:
Hip #40- “Virgin Voyage” filly
Hip 45- “Southgate” filly
Hip 42- “Always in Fashion” filly
Hip 46- “Danzasouth” filly
Hip 44- “Unbridled Ride” filly

IMO there is a special spot in Hell reserved for Ernie Paragallo!
I also question… did these horses slip through the cracks? If so, I think an investigation needs to be launched on- how!
Or was the policy to disperse of them? If so, it seems like the method of dispersal following an animal cruelty case needs to be re-visited. Dispersal of cruelty victims to a a slaughter auction… seems to be a cruel irony.
I hope they all find their wonderful forever homes… they deserve them!!!
The rescue should have all of these answers- I volunteered to photograph and share their story, but I was not involved with the case. From what I can tell, some of the horses were sent to other farms after the investigation, which was over a year ago. I’m trying to learn more- it seems like there are far more chapters to this story.
PS- I believe one filly has found a home- hooray!
The top photo is my favorite. Very much captures the wild look of a sunburnt yearling out to pasture. Taken out of the context of a national crisis and a crime against horses, take away a horseman’s eye for a horse that needs weight… and it’s just a beautiful photo.
Thank you, Natalie.
I love these horses. their gorgouse. love them all. I would love to adopt one. could anyone tell me how to. PLEASE, PLEASE
