Equine Photographer Sarah Andrew: 2010- A Year in Photos
Happy New Year!
Thank you for all of your support. 2010 was another year of firsts for me as a photographer- there was rarely a dull moment! From being interviewed for the local news (link here) to driving a Standardbred racehorse on a training track in a jog cart, there were never enough hours in the day. I photographed the World Equestrian Games, Rolex, all three Triple Crown races, the Breeders’ Cup, dozens of Grade 1 races, dozens of horses in need at local rescues, and over 1,000 horses at Camelot Auction. I was proud to contribute a photo to a magazine that won Bill Finley an Eclipse Award for writing.

Fabulous pictures. I am so impressed by the number and quality of the pictures you get at Camelot. The WEG pictures were super, I bet that was a blast for you.
You take some crazy gorgeous pictures. Such talent! Thanks for the year recap.
The first bunch made me smile, the in memory made me cry.
Sarah you are such a great talent and always get the expressions perfect.
thank you
Sarah, such wonderful pictures. You are so talented and many thanks for your help in getting photos at Camelot. The in memory shots made me sad…too many lost. Thanks for sharing.
As always, Sarah, thank you for sharing your beautiful work. Every week I wait for your Camelot photos. You have a way of capturing the horses and I really think it helps find them homes. Thank you for giving your time to help save those that can’t save themselves:)
Sarah ~ you’re a wizard in capturing the heart and soul of these animals. I thank you for all you’ve done to help with the equine rescue efforts this past year. All the best to you for 2011! Perhaps you can come visit Trolley at her new home with me!
Sarah, your photographic skill is exqusite. The perspective, detail, composition, and
background settings are unique. Each photo makes the viewer feel they are in the
moment, in the shot. Y ou are truly talented. It is very obvious your love of these
animals is your passion. Keep up the pace, you capture the essence of so many venues,
the rescues, the racing, the faces. Thanks for sharing your skill with us. Ever think
about a book???????
Sarah – your photographs are absolutely wonderful. The Camelot ones break my heart; thank you for bringing these to the forefront for people.
Stunningly beautiful…I want to take all of them home with me…
The best photo summary I’ve seen so far. Then again, I wouldn’t expect anything less from you. Happy New Year, Sarah.
What a nice gift for all of your readers, Sarah. Thanks for putting this together for us. Happy new year to you and yours!
You are so talented Sarah. Every picture is a little gem. thank you so much for sharing your life in photos 🙂
Are the auction horses that are in the memorium section horses that were not rescued and were instead sent to slaughter?
Thank you for your inquiry. None of these horses were shipped to slaughter. They were purchased privately and then unfortunately passed away due to various causes (colic, etc).
Ok, that’s (in some ways) a relief to hear. At least they were loved at the end of their lives.
Thank you for the wonderful post & blog.
Your pictures are beautiful as always. Your picture of Riot the Border Collie touches my soul. If that dog ever needs a home, he can come here forever.
I will never tire of looking at your photos, my friend. You have a gift. Hope to watch you in action again this spring!!!
Sarah, What a lovely collection of photos. Thank you so much for sharing! I didn’t realize that Selena passed away- hugs. Seems like we lost a lot of good mares in 2010. 😦
All of these photos were so beautiful!! My family (who are not horse people,) enjoyed them just as much as I did. Thank you so much!
I can’t, but reiterate the comments above; these are stunningly beautiful photographs. They are elegant, poignant and honest with a sincerity about them that is yours alone. Please don’t ever stop taking pictures, you have a great gift.
WOW Sarah. Just Exquisite. The Memories made me cry, but so glad to see them posted. May the New Year bring positive changes and our horses be safe. HNY!
Truly beautiful work, Sarah. You are very blessed to have a talent that brings you near to such wonderful animals in all walks of life. The memory section made me tear up, so poignant, and I don’t even know who half of the horses are! I want to give extra kudos for the picture of your car at the exotic auto show–a classic!
Sarah – Your photos are so moving. You are so blessed. You can almost hear what the horses are thinking. Thank you for your dedication to the Camelot horses. Who knows where they would be if you were not able to share their pictures with the world.
Love the horses running in the snow and Big Brown covered in mud! That tour at Three Chimmneys is awesome. I love that they still exercise the boys under tack and give them plenty of turnout time. Sorry to hear that Gypsy Supreme died. I don’t follow saddle seat stuff, but saw him enough at the Horse Park to know he was special. Happy New Year!
Through your pictures we can see straight to the horses soul – incredible. What a gift you have! Thank you for all of the horses you have saved by taking those pictures and so unselfishly donating your time.
Thanks for these Sarah, made my day going through all these pictures. I never get tired of looking at your photos…
Just incredible images. What amazing stories of all these horses, people, dogs, and cats, and how poignant many of these images are.
Wonderful work, fantastic blog.
Thanks for all the work you do.
